At Friends of Historic Woolsey, we believe every great project begins with people who care. As we work to restore the Historic Woolsey Church, one truth becomes clearer every single day: we cannot do this without you.

In the southern community of Woolsey in Fayette County, Georgia, the story of Arvazenia “Arva” Frances Hutcheson Wood Woolsey unfolds as a testament to resilience, devotion, and timeless grace. Though often remembered as the wife of Dr. Isaac Gray Woolsey, Arva’s own life of service, love, and hospitality left an indelible mark on her family and community.

The Faces of Woolsey photo project is a tribute to all who have lived in, built, visited, and loved this special town across generations.

May is National Preservation Month, and the town of Woolsey is buzzing with excitement as we embark on a mission to restore our beloved old church.

Historic Woolsey Church has faced many challenges over the years, and recent storms have damaged the already fragile roof.

Charles Reagan Woolsey was given a unique choice by his father, Dr. I. G. Woolsey: to inherit land or pursue an education.
