Remembering Walter Reeves
Apr 20, 2026 by FRIENDS OF HISTORIC WOOLSEY
Friends of Historic Woolsey lovingly remembers Walter Reeves, an early supporter of our organization and a true friend to our mission. His encouragement and belief in preserving the history of Woolsey meant so much to us, especially in our earliest days.
Walter’s connection to this community runs deep. His grandmother, Rachel Belle Powell Reeves, is laid to rest in Historic Woolsey Cemetery, a place that holds the stories of so many families who shaped this area. Through Walter’s words and memories, we are reminded of the importance of honoring those who came before us.
We would like to share a blog Walter wrote about his grandmother, offering a glimpse into her life and the legacy she left behind. His storytelling reflects not only his love for his family but also his appreciation for history and heritage.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Nancy Reeves for sharing treasured photos and meaningful stories that help bring this history to life. We are also deeply grateful to Robert Reeves for preserving historic photos of the church, pieces of the past that have been invaluable in guiding our restoration journey.
Walter’s kindness, passion, and connection to Woolsey will not be forgotten. His legacy, along with that of his family, continues to inspire our work every day.
We invite you to join us in remembering Walter and celebrating this extraordinary family whose roots and stories remain woven into the fabric of Historic Woolsey.
