In the South we have a saying, “If it’s worth telling, it’s worth coloring,” and most of us subscribe to that theory unless we’re testifying in a courtroom, in which case it probably wouldn’t be the better part of wisdom. In our small Southern towns, it’s critical to write down the stories before they are lost forever. Doing so is liable to make you laugh, at least occasionally, for Southern towns, I am convinced, have more characters per square inch than any other towns on earth. And many of the stories you’re likely to hear will contain shenanigans you might find hard to believe. So learn those stories, and tell them over and over and over with gusto and laughter, so they’re never forgotten."
