Our Projects & Stewardship
We are dedicated to the preservation of Woolsey’s historic landmarks and community character, guided by the 2022 Woolsey Comprehensive Plan and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
Project 1: Historic Woolsey Church Restoration
We are stabilizing and restoring the 1889 Historic Woolsey Church to ensure it remains a safe, functional, and culturally significant landmark. Current efforts focus on essential structural stabilization, exterior carpentry restoration, window reconstruction, and the installation of a new authentic cedar shingle roof to honor the building’s original aesthetic, all informed by our Historic Structure Report and expert guidance from Landmark Preservation LLC.Read More about the Cedar Shingle Roof

Project 2: Classroom Rehabilitation
We are currently rehabilitating the 1952 classroom addition. This work improves accessibility and functionality while strictly respecting the building's historic role and architectural character within the church complex.
Project 3: Annex Rehabilitation
Work on the annex focuses on necessary repairs and upgrades to support expanded community use. We are prioritizing functional improvements that respect the building’s historic role and architectural character within the site.
Project 4: Site, Landscape, and Cemetery Stewardship
Our ongoing grounds work includes developing a memorial garden outside the cemetery fence near identified unmarked graves. Our stewardship of the historic cemetery (formerly the Thomas Bolling Gay Burial Ground) includes research and identification of unmarked graves, active grounds maintenance, and community archiving.Explore Our Cemetery Preservation & History
