Photographs have the remarkable ability to preserve moments in time and connect us with the people and places that came before us. Through images, we can glimpse the lives of earlier generations, see how our communities have changed, and better understand the stories that shaped Woolsey and the surrounding region.
The first photographs in the Friends of Historic Woolsey collection were generously shared by our beloved board member, Linda Blum-Barton. Linda understood the importance of preserving the stories behind the images and helped ensure that these photographs would become part of our shared heritage. Her dedication, passion for history, and love for Historic Woolsey continue to inspire us. We miss Linda dearly and are grateful for the lasting gift she gave to our organization and community.
We are also deeply grateful to Ryan Arvay for capturing the restoration of Historic Woolsey Church through his photography. His photographs document the dedication, craftsmanship, and many hands that are helping restore Historic Woolsey Church. These images provide a visual record of this important chapter in Woolsey’s history and will allow future generations to see the care and commitment behind this preservation effort.
The photography collections of Historic Woolsey help preserve these stories and connections by documenting the people, landscapes, architecture, and events that are part of our shared heritage. From historic images of Woolsey Church and the surrounding community to photographs capturing restoration efforts and present-day gatherings, each image adds another piece to the story we are preserving.
Do you have historic photographs of Woolsey, the church, local families, or the surrounding community? We would love the opportunity to preserve and share these pieces of our collective history. If you have photographs or stories to share, please contact us.
Photography is also an important way to tell the story of Historic Woolsey. If photography is something you enjoy, we would love to have you join our team and help document the people, places, and moments that continue to shape our community.
Together, these images create a visual record of a community built on family, history, creativity, and connection, allowing future generations to see and appreciate the stories that came before them.
